Tyco Fire & Integrated Solutions Exhibiting at All Energy 09
01 May 2009

We are exhibiting our environmentally responsible range of fire fighting systems including High Pressure Watermist and INERGEN Gaseous Systems Solutions at All Energy 09. These systems are essential for any company likely to be involved in generation of electricity and operators and designers of Renewable Energy electricity generation equipment.

What is Watermist and how can it help me?

Watermist is a versatile and highly efficient fire-fighting medium. What differentiates Watermist from traditional water based systems is its reduced droplet size. When a droplet of water vaporises, it expands by some 1,600 times. Because heat absorption is a function of surface area and not volume, smaller droplets mean more surface area and therefore faster heat absorption.

Watermist has the unique ability to deliver water as a fine atomised mist. This mist is quickly converted to steam that smothers the fire and prevents further oxygen from reaching it. At the same time, the evaporation creates a significant cooling effect of combustion gases and blocks the transfer of radiant heat. In addition, the system will bind smoke particles to reduce smoke damage.

Utilising the unique properties of Watermist, Tyco Fire & Integrated Solutions along with our strategic partners have designed and developed both a low and a high-pressure version of Watermist delivering droplet momentum to the seat of the fire.

What is INERGEN and how can it help me?

INERGEN has been extensively used throughout the world as a preferred gaseous fire suppression agent for over 16 years. It is a singularly unique fire suppression system. Unlike some chemical gaseous fire suppression agents, INERGEN® does not, and could never create a reaction with a fire to create extremely harmful toxic or corrosive by-products.

No other inert gas has the unique ability to rapidly extinguish a fire yet at the same time provide a safe environment for any person within the occupied area by actually decreasing cardiac distress and maintaining arterial blood oxygenation and mental performance in low oxygen levels.

Cost studies have shown that INERGEN is cost competitive when compared with the most popular chemical agents on typical systems. INERGEN does not take up premium floor space as the cylinders can be placed remotely from the protected risk.
