What is INERGEN?
INERGEN is an inert gaseous fire suppression gas classified as IG541. It is recognised as the world’s safest gaseous fire protection system with a 20 year proven track record.
Now that IG541 has become widely available, the unique features of IG541 has led to a spiralling number of fire protection companies now offering fraudulent INERGEN gaseous fire suppression systems that are unlisted, unregulated and totally illegal.
For example, all INERGEN gaseous fire suppression systems provided by Tyco Fire & Integrated Solutions carry a CE mark showing that they have been assessed by the Royal & Sun Alliance in accordance with modules D1, E1, and H of Annexe III of the Pressure Equipment Directive 97/23/EC and Schedule 4 of the UK Pressure Equipment Regulations 1999 (SI 2001).
Buyers beware!
Organisations such as the LPCB play a vital role in protecting specifiers and buyers from fraud and legal litigation. However, LPCB approval of components does not mean that the system has approval.
The only guarantee to ensure a gaseous fire suppression system has approval is to check if the company offering an INERGEN alternative is listed in the LPCB Red Book at www.redbooklive.com
The next level of Loss Prevention assurance is found in systems certified to LPS 1230 (Gaseous Systems). This standard checks the ability of the designed and installed system to extinguish various types of fire.
To be fully confident that a fixed fire extinguishing system will successfully cover your risk, a fully approved system (including components) should be installed by an approved installer. It is important for specifiers to require an LPS 1204 Certificate of Conformity.
Why choose INERGEN, a Premier Brand?
Since the 1980,’s many Halon Alternatives have come and then gone. Fire protection companies have lurched from one ‘unique product’ offering to another. Unfortunately, it has been the specifiers or the end user who has borne the financial brunt of this short sightedness, as they have had to replace those one ‘unique product’ with another.
Fortunately, as a ‘fire engineering’ company, Tyco Fire & Integrated Solutions had the vision and integrity to engineer, develop, install and maintain a Halon Alternative that provided a guaranteed ‘long term’ solution to meet the ‘Business Critical’ needs of our clients. Today, many of those client’s have recognised the ‘Through Life’ financial benefits of choosing INERGEN supplied by Tyco Fire & Integrated Solutions.
It is that recognition that has led our client base to avoid taking chances with unlisted, unregulated ‘copycats’. They recognise that the product is more important than the price for the protection of ‘Business Critical’ risks such as computer data halls, switch gear and high risk production lines. INERGEN means Tyco means stable, financially sound continuity of support –today, tomorrow, and throughout the life of any INERGEN protected facility with 24/7 response from local service centres.
INERGEN from Tyco Fire & Integrated Solutions (UKIF) is LPC and VdS approved. It has LPS 1204 third party competency, accreditation and auditing and FULL PED certification. It also has ISO 9001 QA accreditation.
