| Tyco Fire & Integrated Solutions announces partnership with Children’s Burns Foundation | |
| 10 February 2011 On Monday 31st January 2011 George Oliver, President of Tyco Fire Protection, and Jordi Andreu, Managing Director of Tyco Fire Protection Services EMEA, announced our support of The Children’s Burns Foundation (CBF). George and Jordi presented the charity with a cheque for £13,000, which was received by Dave Lenagan, a Fire Fighter for Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service and Vice Chair of The Board of Trustees at The Children’s Burns Foundation. Our contribution will help the charity fund a range of initiatives from medical research to places at week-long burns camps designed to help young people overcome the emotional and physical scars caused by burn injuries. ‘These are no ordinary holiday camps,’ explains Dave. ‘The week-long stay (without parents) in a residential activity centre is designed to help children interact with other burns survivors in order to break down any barriers of isolation they many feel in their ordinary life. Not only do they experience physically challenging activates such as rock climbing and abseiling but they also get the opportunity to learn how to handle difficult situations like being teased at school’. Whilst presenting the cheque Jordi highlighted the natural synergy between our work at Tyco Fire & Integrated Solutions and The Children’s Burns Foundation. ‘As specialist fire engineers we strive to keep millions of people across the UK safe from fire every day; but sadly there are still many young people affected by burns. We wanted to get involved with the CBF as soon as we heard about the great work that they’re doing. Not only are they a fantastic charity, run entirely by volunteers, but the burns injuries of the children it supports reminds us of why our work is so vital’.
