“Imagine something happens ……and nothing happens…….”
Deluge Systems are normally considered the main fire fighting system on an Offshore Installation and two very important forms of protection are provided: Fire (flame) extinguishment and cooling.
Well performing deluge systems are offering platform personnel an escape route in emergency situations and consist of a deluge control valve, pressure less distribution pipework with open deluge nozzles. In the harsh offshore environment this pipework is subject to corrosion and scale build up overtime caused by releases of seawater, sand, salt, calcium carbonate and marine fouling.
It may not take long before deposits and corrosive parts have reduced the pipe’s orifice to the size of a straw.
As soon as water is required in an emergency situation loose scale and corrosion flakes will be pushed through the pipework blocking deluge nozzles. As a result this escape route may no longer exist!
Tyco is specialised in removing deposits and rust from deluge systems and restoring the system’s integrity. At completion of the chemical treatment a thin protective film will protect the bare metal from corroding.
The chemical solution of water and CEFAS* registered chemicals will be neutralised after completion of the treatment and will be harmless to the environment.
Since the introduction in the NNS**, Tyco has been successful on various offshore projects for a number of operators.
Dry Deluge Testing: As regular Performance Tests are only increasing the build up of scale deposits Tyco has developed a new testing method …. read more
