Introduction
Tyco Fire & Integrated solutions provide high hazard sprinkler systems for the protection of cable trays, tunnels and basements with power generation and transmission plants, petrochemical and pharmaceutical plants to meet Fire Approval Authority requirements throughout the world.
Our dedicated design engineers and project management teams work exclusively in “preferred supplier partnerships” to provide three different types of sprinkler system to meet the varied requirements of the Power & Exports market sector.
A basic high pressure discharge sprinkler system is designed to suppress fires within cable tunnels using larger discharge flow rates than conventional land based sprinkler systems.
Alternatively, open sprinklers can be installed in zones within the cable tunnels/trays that are activated by a Multiple Jet “Quartzoid” bulb Control. In the event of a fire, the Multiple Jet Control located closest to the seat of the fire will operate at a pre-determined temperature to open a valve, which allows water to discharge through the open sprinkler heads.
For the protection of large cable basement areas, Tyco Fire & Integrated Solutions provide “Metron Actuated” sprinkler systems linked to an independent fire detection and alarm system. The detection system can be a smoke, heat, optical, infra-red or linear heat cable system, depending upon the type of fire risk involved.
In the event of a fire, a signal is received at the main control valve to identify the zone of protection involved. This in turn, creates a further signal to the “Metron Actuated” sprinklers within the affected zone. This signal causes the plunger within the “Metron Actuated” device to break the “Quartzoid” bulb of the sprinklers allowing water to be discharged directly on the seat of the fire to control and extinguish the fire before it has chance to fully develop into a very high intensity fire.
All three systems are controlled by a “Wet” system sprinkler control valve.
The different types of systems available are:
