The MulsiFyre system applies water in the form of a conical spray consisting of droplets of water travelling at high velocity. These droplets bombard the surface of the oil to form a mixture of oil and water. This mixture significantly cools the fire reducing the rate of liquid vaporisation. While the water droplets are passing through the flame zone, some of the water is formed into steam that dilutes the air feeding the fire and creates a smothering effect to extinguish the fire.
